Peter Blitz
President, MaxHire Solutions Inc., Age: 39
Success has been an exercise in patience for Peter Blitz, who has built his software company into one of the fastest-growing technology companies in B.C.
“It’s not one moment, but it’s looking at the whole landscape of what we’ve achieved through absolute consistency through the last four years,” said Blitz.
MaxHire Solutions’ easy-to-use recruiting software has provided staffing solutions for hundreds of companies worldwide, and yearly revenue has increased from $1 million to $4 million in as many years.
Blitz added that revenue has steadily increased month-over-month since he founded MaxHire in 2001.
His company has a roster of 20 employees and an average employee salary of $100,000 per year.
However, it’s MaxHire’s work environment of which Blitz is particularly proud.
“We’ve created a great team and a great work environment where everyone knows what part they play on the road to success.”
He’s also active in the community, raising $9,000 in pledges for the 2008 AIDS/LifeCycle, a 900-kilometre trek from San Francisco to Los Angeles.
Blitz said it took him six months to train for the event, but it resulted in the “charity savings account” program for employees at MaxHire, where every employee gets $1,000 per year to donate to a charity of his or her choice.
One of the things to which Blitz attributes the success of his company is being able to empower his employees to treat MaxHire as though it were their own and he said it’s that environment that will help MaxHire expand internationally.
“All the staff is really excited about it because it’s just fun to experience something so different. … The world’s a big place and there are a lot of people and a lot of opportunity.” •
