Please read and follow this checklist carefully

The following guidelines and specifications are to ensure the highest quality reproduction of your advertising.

Always send a printout or fax of what the ad should look like to your ad representative.

Final advertising supplied material should be (in order of preference):

(1) an Illustrator 10 (or lower) file or EPS file with all fonts converted to outlines;

(2) Mac Quark Xpress 4.1 (or lower) document with associated fonts and graphics;

(3) a certified PDF/x 1a file;

(4) Mac Pagemaker file with associated fonts and graphics; or

(5) PC Quark or PC Pagemaker files with the understanding that we will use OUR FONTS.

- Convert all fonts to paths (save as curves or outlines).

- Text should not be saved in any pixel/bitmap-based program like Photoshop. It will not be sharp when printed.

- We can not accept TTF (True Type Fonts) or PC Fonts.

- Use TIFF or EPS for photos. JPEG is a lossy format and is not always high quality. GIF is not appropriate for print. Make sure any bitmap image you send has appropriate ppi (Pixels Per Inch). At 100% the image should be 300 ppi (sometimes called dpi for Dots Per Inch). Anything pulled off your Web-site will be 72 ppi and will not print well.

- Colour ads should have a colour print-out supplied.

InDesign, PDFs (unless properly prepared), Publisher, CorelDraw, Word, Powerpoint, WordPerfect.

Send your files as a single StuffIt or Zipped file attached to your e-mail message. Include a contact name and number in the body of the message. Let us know what you are sending: what program it was created in, and in what format.

Please phone your sales representative directly with specific instructions or requests. Dont forget to fax a copy of the ad.

Dont e-mail files over 3 megs. They may not go through.

FTP

Use our FTP server to transfer files larger than 3 megs. Our ftp address is: ftp.biv.com, path is BIVMG/SpecialPubs. Use bivguest as both your user name and password. Upload a single Stuffit or Zip archive into the BIV folder. Please advise your sales rep that you have sent the file. If youre using Internet Explorer to upload your file type: ftp://bivguest@ftp.biv.com/BIVMG/SpecialPubs in the address bar and drag your file to the window. The password is still bivguest.
