Organizers of Vancouver’s Angel Forum are giving entrepreneurs until September 30 to apply to be part of its October 19 forum.
The group has been hosting forums linking investors and entrepreneurs for 13 years.
Each one is hosted at a secret location and includes about 40 investors who hear pitches from entrepreneurs seeking capital.
About 23 companies have so far applied to give presentations at the event yet only eight have successfully navigated through the forum’s strict screening process.
“We take a look at the management team and how big the market is and where the company is in its development process,” said Bob Chaworth-Musters, who organizes the events. “Do they have some revenue? Are they about to go commercial? Or, are they still in development?”
The Angel Forum also seeks new investors, Musters told Business in Vancouver.
“They’re the guys we’d really like to meet. They’re the oil, shall we say. They’re critical to all of this,” he said.
The last forum meeting in Vancouver was in May and investors decided to invest in four companies out of 19 entrepreneur presentations.
