Business confidence among B.C.'s small and medium-sized businesses continued to exceed the national average, according to the Canadian Federation of Independent Business.
B.C.'s business barometer index also fell less than 1% in December compared with the index in November. B.C.'s result was the lowest decline among every province except Quebec and Nova Scotia, which saw business confidence rise in December.
Business confidence fell the most in Prince Edward Island (-10.7%), Alberta (-10%) and Newfoundland and Labrador (-9%).
Nationally, business confidence fell 6.3% with the arts, resources and construction seeing the greatest declines in December.
