The largest-ever trade mission to China involving B.C. seafood producers is expected to help them beat their own record of $80 million worth of seafood exported to China in 2010.
Representatives from 30 B.C. seafood companies and organizations are expected to join executives from more than 90 other ventures as part of the B.C. government’s trade mission to China, which starts November 4.

“Increasing B.C. seafood exports results in new dollars coming to B.C. and new jobs in our coastal communities and throughout the seafood producing and distribution chain,” said B.C. Agriculture Minister Don McRae.
Crabs, geoducks, salmon, hake and herring are B.C.’s main seafood exports to the world’s most populous nation.
The largest markets for B.C. seafood are:
- the U.S. (56%);
- Japan (17%);
- China (8%); and
- Hong Kong (5%).
