BC Hydro has enlisted two local software companies to help deploy its new digital smart meters throughout B.C.
Vancouver-based Bit Stew Systems Inc. and Clevest Solutions Inc. of Richmond will provide software solutions and communications infrastructure to enable efficient smart meter installation.
Bit Stew will help to make deployment easier and give BC Hydro the tools to manage and track the electricity grid upgrade using a real-time interactive map.
The map shows open, active and closed smart meter work orders as meters are installed across the province. The software also flags outages and meters that have been tampered with.
According to the company, Clevest's software will increase the productivity of smart meter installers through efficient scheduling and dispatching of workers. The system also tracks the meter inventory through barcode scanning, photos and GPS.
