Victoria posted its largest sale of oil and gas land rights in October.
It raised $370 million in bonus bids, the sixth largest on record.
The October 21 sale offered 62 parcels of land covering 66,837 hectares. It sold 58 parcels covering 65,787 hectares. The average price per hectare was $5625.30, which is the second-highest price in B.C. history.
The key parcels for sale were in Montney and included four drilling licenses near the Altares Field area, approximately 20 kilometres north of Hudson's Hope, which sold for $201 million. Another parcel included drilling licenses near the Cypress Field, approximately 80 kilometres northwest of Hudson's Hope, which sold for $56 million.
For the year, the province has brought in $700.6 million in oil and gas rights sales.
The next sale is scheduled for November 18 and the government will over 44 parcels covering 21,267 hectares.
