Victoria has raised nearly $17 million in its sale of oil and gas exploration rights in February.
The government sold 19 parcels covering 13,256 hectares of land with the average price per hectare of $1,271.
Key parcels in the sale included four drilling licenses located in the Horn River Basin, about 40 kilometres northeast of Fort Nelson.
Drilling licenses provide the exclusive right to drill wells to explore for natural gas for three, four or five years, depending on the location.
The government plans to offer 77 parcels of land in March covering 25,171 hectares.
