Burnaby-based mobile phone retailer expanding in Eastern Canada

Burnaby's Glentel Inc. has opened nine new locations across Canada over the past few months: three in Quebec, four in Ontario and two in Alberta.

Burnaby's Glentel Inc. has opened nine new locations across Canada over the past few months: three in Quebec, four in Ontario and two in Alberta.

All the new locations for the mobile phone retailer, except one of its new Alberta stores, were opened under the company's Tbooth/Cabine T retail banner, which it acquired in 2005.

Glentel now has 178 retail locations across Canada and plans to continue to expand by opening more mobile phone accessory outlets under the Wireless Etc. banner.

Glentel revenue increased 15% for its first fiscal 2007 quarter, which ended March 31. Revenue rose to $42.8 million compared with first quarter 2006 revenue of $37.2 million.

Quarterly profit increased to $221,000 from $17,000 a year earlier.
