Canadian CEOs more optimistic about economy than global counterparts: PwC

While the vast majority of CEOs around the world are confident about their company's prospects over the next year, Canadian executives are among the most optimistic, according to PricewaterhouseCooper's annual global CEO survey.

While the vast majority of CEOs around the world are confident about their company's prospects over the next year, Canadian executives are among the most optimistic, according to PricewaterhouseCooper's annual global CEO survey.

About 81% of CEOs worldwide expressed some level of confidence about their prospects over the next 12 months, with 31% saying they were very confident about their short-term prospects.

About 40% said they are likely to increase staffing levels this year, and 23% said recovery in their industry is already underway.

Canadian CEOs expressed even higher optimism in every component of the survey. About 87% said they were confident about their company's prospects this year, while 36% were "very confident." About half of Canadian executives expect to hire more staff this year and 38% said their industry is already recovering from the recession.
