Canadian online shoppers plan to spend the same amount this holiday season as last year despite the recession, according to a survey by Visa Canada.
About 75% of online purchasers plan to spend an average $225.50 this year. This year, men plan to spend $50 more online than women and older Canadians plan to spend more than younger shoppers.
The survey found that 57% of Canadians have made an online purchase in the past year with 48% reporting they shopped at a Canadian online retailer, while 29% made a purchase from an American website.
About a quarter of online shoppers plan to take advantage of online deals offered on Black Friday, the day after American Thanksgiving.
