Richmond-based CHC Helicopter, the world’s largest helicopter services company, is expanding its fleet by 20 new helicopters, the company announced this morning.
The company has ordered 20 EC225 Super Puma twin-engine helicopters – with an option for four additional aircraft – to be delivered over the next four years.
The company expects the aircraft will be deployed to serve the oil-and-gas customers in the United Kingdom, Norway, Australia and Brazil.
“We are extremely optimistic about the future of this industry and CHC’s place in it,” William Amelio, CHC’s president and CEO, said in a news release.
“The EC225 is an excellent aircraft for extending CHC’s global reach, responsiveness and leadership in safety.”
CHC has a fleet of more than 250 aircraft and operates in about 30 countries around the world.
Earlier this month, CHC announced strong revenue growth in its fiscal first quarter, and Amelio stated that he was bullish on the industry.
