The cost of goods in B.C. increased in November, but not as much as the month before.

This according to a Statistics Canada report released Tuesday that saw the province’s consumer prices climb 2.2% in November year-over-year compared with a 2.4% increase the month before.

The national statistical agency said consumers in Canada’s Western-most province paid more for restaurant food, gasoline and replacement costs at home.

B.C.’s rate of inflation was 0.2% higher than the national average of 2%.

Across the country, Statistics Canada said the inflationary decrease could be largely attributed to lower energy, food and clothing prices.

Still, prices increased in seven of the eight major components of the Consumer Price Index in the 12 months to November, with the only exception being clothing and footwear.
