Copper production rises for First Quantum Minerals

Vancouver's First Quantum Minerals Ltd. (TSX:FM) reported a 24% increase in copper production for 2007, to 226,693 tonnes.

Vancouver's First Quantum Minerals Ltd. (TSX:FM) reported a 24% increase in copper production for 2007, to 226,693 tonnes.

The bulk of the company's production came from its Kansanshi open pit mine in northern Zambia, which saw a 24% increase in production in the fourth quarter. First Quantum is projecting 2008 copper production to increase another 37% to 310,000 tonnes almost two thirds from its Kansanshi mine. The company's share price range during the past week: between $67.35 and $82.11; 52-week high: $114.18; 52-week low: $55.76.
