The Corix Group of Companies, formerly Terasen Water and Utility Services, has expanded into the western United States by acquiring Santa Clara, California-based Edward S. Walsh Company.

Financial details of the deal have not been disclosed.

Founded in 1958, Edward Walsh supplies water, wastewater, fire protection and storm products. It has locations in Santa Clara, Stockton and Livermore.

The acquisition gives Corix a foothold in the U.S. market, providing a base to expand to other markets along the U.S. west coast.

Corix, which supplies water products, services and utilities, was created as a result of the July 2006 sale of Terasen Water and Utility Services by Kinder Morgan in a deal worth $125 million.

It's owned by Vancouver private equity firm CAI Capital Management Co. and Victoria-based institutional investor B.C. Investment Management Corp.
