Victoria has entered into a six-year agreement with Deloitte Inc. to develop a new computer-based integrated case management system to help deliver major social services programs.
The new ICM system, mentioned in this week's speech from the throne, is meant to improve the way client information will be handled by the Ministry of Housing and Social Development and the Ministry of Children of Family Development.
The project is estimated to cost $181 million with $28 million to be spent this year alone.
The system replaces an outdated system that the government said had become inflexible, increasingly fragile and difficult to adapt to policy changes.
The new system will improve the ability of both ministries to share information and manage individual case files between ministries.
