Wireless data systems provider Digital Dispatch Systems Inc. (TSX:DD) has signed a deal to sell its mobile data terminals to South Africa's primary electricity provider.

The deal with Eskom gives the Richmond company a new geographic and vertical market and could result in the South African company buying Digital Dispatch's Vector 530 terminals for its fleet of 5,000 vehicles. Eskom has already developed software for the Vector 530.

Digital Dispatch has been expanding globally by entering the Australian, Asian and European markets over the past two years. Last week, it acquired Finnish software company Mobisoft Oy for roughly $8 million.

Digital Dispatch's share price has remained unchanged at $2.30 during the past week; 52-week high: $4.10; 52-week low: $2.25.
