Molson Coors Canada (TSX:TPX.A) is taking a stab at promoting healthy lifestyles for Canadians.

Molson Coors Canada (TSX:TPX.A) is taking a stab at promoting healthy lifestyles for Canadians.

The company announced last week it will donate $1 million in early 2012 through its Community Cheer program.

The program looks to promote fitness and healthy living in local communities across Canada, whether it be in providing a new roof for an arena or starting a community fitness program.

“Molson Coors Community Cheer was built on 225 years of community involvement in Canada dating back to our founder, John Molson,” Ferg Devins, chief public affairs officer, Molson Coors Canada, said in a media release.

“His belief that we are all members of a larger community with a role to play remains unchanged today. We hope to continue to do our part by supporting worthwhile initiatives that promote a balanced lifestyle.”

In keeping with the 225 years in business theme, applicants must receive 225 “cheers” online from supporters to be eligible to receive the funding.

Molson is accepting applications until January 5, 2012 online at ourcommunitycheer.com.

“We hear stories year-round from community leaders and our front-line employees about [organizations] that need financial support, but [which] are unsure on how to secure the funds,” Devins added. “Our goal with Community Cheer is to help to get these great ideas off the ground.”
