Federal economic stimulus funds will contribute to a new $13.1 million transit operations and maintenance facility in Kamloops.
Ottawa is contributing $4 million through the Building Canada Fund, which will be coupled with a $4.3 million investment from the province and a $4.8 million contribution from the City of Kamloops.
The new centre will include an administration and maintenance building, service bays, diesel fueling station, wash bay and storage area and parking. It will be located beside the current facility with a target lifespan of approximately 25 years.
Construction will begin in the spring and is scheduled to be complete by the fall of 2011.
