Travel by Canadians going abroad increased 2.8% in November compared to the number of trips in October, according to data released by Statistics Canada Wednesday.
Total trips rose to 4.1 million, up from just under four million in October. The bulk of the increase came from a 3.4% increase in travel to the U.S. to more than 3.4 million trips from 3.3 million.
The increase came primarily from a 4.9% increase in overnight car trips to the U.S. to 940,000 from 896,000. Meanwhile, plane trips to the U.S. fell 0.8% to 516,000 from 520,000.
Foreign travel to Canada remained relatively flat rising 0.7% to 1.98 million visitors from 1.97 million. Much of the increase came from a 0.8% increase in visitors from the U.S. to 1.6 million trips. Overnight car trips and plane trips and same day car trips from the U.S. also rose.
