Burnaby-based Future Shop plans to double its market share in home appliances sales and will be expanding and remodeling the appliance sections of its stores.
It will be providing additional training for its staff and will be bringing in new regional appliance managers and certified product experts to assist customers. Future Shop's move comes a couple weeks after its sister retailer Best Buy announced plans to expand its mobile phone division into separate stores in Toronto by Christmas 2008.
Future Shop has 133 stores across Canada with more than 10,000 employees. It is a division of Best Buy Canada Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of U.S.-based Best Buy Co. Inc.
