CIBT Education Group (TSX:MBA) is placing new emphasis on finding jobs for its students after they graduate.
On Wednesday, the Vancouver-based management company, which operates subsidiaries such as Sprott-Shaw Community College and CIBT School of Business, said its global career centre (GCC) has helped a number of graduates obtain employment since it was launched five months ago.
So far, the GCC has posted 1,743 jobs for students in Greater Vancouver and 33 graduates from Sprott-Shaw have earned employment.
In the past two months, the centre has posted 1,116 jobs and 29 graduates have been hired.
The GCC is based in the Philippines, and uses low-cost Philippine labour and long-distance voice-over-IP telephone services to help Canadian students and graduates find jobs all over the world.
CIBT said although the GCC human resources professionals are located in the Philippines, they are fluent in English and adept at job placement.
“Students are recognizing that our school prioritizes job placement for graduates after their study,” said Toby Chu, vice chairman, president and CEO of CIBT.
“The success of the career center also speaks to the quality of our programs, which develop graduates who receive quality training and are well qualified to start work in their chosen fields.”
At press time, CIBT’s shares were down 3.23% to $0.30.
