Vancouver’s Glowbal Group is expanding its head office, training facilities and take-out pasta division by taking space on Hornby Street that had been Mona’s Mediterranean Restaurant until it closed a few months ago.
“We’re putting in a simple sandwich bar there for people who want a sandwich or a hot pasta to go,” Glowbal Group owner Emad Yacoub told Business in Vancouver July 22. “It will be operational in about a month.”
Executives, who have been cramped in a 2,000-square-foot office on Richards Street, will also move to the 5,000-square-foot Hornby Street location.
Yacoub will retain the Richards Street office for his accounting division.
Glowbal currently has six restaurants including Sanafir, Global Grill Steaks and Satay, and Coast. It also has two lounges.
In October, Yacoub plans to open a restaurant called Black and Blue next to Coast, on Alberni Street.
His current Italian To Go take-out pasta operation is in the same building as his Italian Kitchen bistro on Alberni Street. The Hornby Street sandwich bar will also be branded Italian To Go.
“It’s been doing very well for us so we’re going to put it in different locations,” Yacoub said. “You could have it at the airport or in shopping malls.”
