Leslie, Gordon, Lauri and Jill Diamond donated $3 million to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation to establish the Sadie Diamond Breast Health Imaging Centre, a first-of-its-kind flagship breast-imaging and training centre at BC Women’s Hospital & Health Centre.
BMO Financial Group donated $50,000 to the Arts Club Theatre Co. for its ongoing Granville Island Revitalization Project, currently in progress at the Granville Island Stage.
The City of Richmond provided a grant of $45,000 to Family Services of Greater Vancouver’s Richmond Counselling Program, which provides counselling to people who can’t afford or don’t qualify for private services.

The District of North Vancouver, City of North Vancouver and District of West Vancouver awarded community grants totalling $5,000 to support Big Sisters of BC Lower Mainland mentoring programs for girls living on the North Shore.
Flight Centre’s (FC) National Leadership Conference at the Sandals Whitehouse Resort in Jamaica included community based volunteer activities in conjunction with the Sandals Foundation that would have a direct positive impact on a community in need. Over 500 FC employees helped install new roofing on classrooms, constructed new bathroom facilities, painted the local school, landscaped and cleared grassy areas to construct a football pitch and created an irrigation system for organic farming.
Barbara Mowat, president of Impact Communications Ltd., is a recipient of the 2010 Governor General’s Awards in Commemoration of the Persons Case, which recognize outstanding individuals who have helped to advance equality for women in Canada.
The District of Lillooet and District of Lillooet International Economic Development Council received awards in the following categories from the Economic Development Association of Canada: advertising, budget less than $200,000; branding, budget less than $200,000; digital media, website, budget less than $200,000; other promotions, video, budget less than $200,000; paid advertising campaign, population under 25,000. The District of Lillooet and City of Quesnel received an honourable mention in the promotional awards, population under 25,000 category for the Gold Rush Living brochure. The District of Lillooet was also named Most Valuable Marketing Partner for 2010 by the Vancouver Coast and Mountains Tourism Region.
Whistler Alpine Chalet Retreat & Wellness was named Best B&B in the annual Best of BedandBreakfast.com Awards, which are based on a qualitative and quantitative review of the nearly 50,000 independent reviews submitted to the online B&B directory and reservation network.
