Phillips Healthcare Canada donated a $372,710 gift of heart monitors and defibrillators to the Justice Institute of BC’s School of Health Sciences.

Flight Centre staff raised $34,691 for the Canadian Cancer Society’s Movember campaign.

Boulevard Casino donated over $30,000 in cash and in-kind support to SHARE Family and Community Services. Coast Capital in Coquitlam recently donated $1,000 to SHARE. Kiewit Flatiron raised over $25,900 and 1,200 pounds of food for SHARE in its recent golf tournament and food drive.

The Fraser Valley Real Estate Board donated $10,000 to YWCA Vancouver in support of a new housing development for single mothers in Surrey. In partnership with the City of Surrey and BC Housing, Alder Gardens will have 36 units that will cater to single mothers and their children with priority given to Surrey residents.

Baxter donated $10,000 to Royal Columbian Hospital to purchase critically needed equipment.

The Envision Financial Community Endowment, housed with the First West Foundation, granted $10,000 to replace flooring in the main lobby of the Mountainview Lodge Complex – a long-term care facility located next to Kitimat General Hospital.

Alcon Canada donated $5,000 to the Tapestry Foundation for Health Care’s Angel Campaign in support of a new vitrectomy unit for Mount Saint Joseph Hospital. The unit is used to treat patients with detached retinas, and macular degenerative disease.

Envision Financial team members from the regional office and Langley City branch raised $2,567 for prostate cancer research during Movember.

PWL Partnership Landscape Architects Inc. won a 2010 Award of Excellence in the extensive institutional category for its Vancouver Convention Centre green roof by Green Roofs for Healthy Cities.

John Furlong was recognized by the Canadian Marketing Association (CMA) as Canada’s Marketer of the Year. The CMA also awarded Tourism BC three bronze awards in the consumer services category for its 2009-10 Great Mountain Giveaway ski campaign.

John Hoekstra, CFO, Bevo Agro Inc., received the W. Curry McCalpin Award and the gold medal of the CGA Association of BC for the highest overall average in the CGA program for 2010.

BC Lottery Corp. received the Responsible Gaming Award from the World Lottery Association for outstanding achievements in the area of responsible gaming.

The Kitsilano Chamber of Commerce presented Westside Business Awards to Kitsilano Neighbourhood House (community spirit); Mountain Equipment Co-op (retailer of the year); Bistro Pastis (restaurant of the year); Pamela Chatry (business person of the year); Nurse Next Door (business of the year); Sentheepen Senthivel and Norm Chan, Greens Organic + Natural Market (new entrepreneur of the year); and Rocky Mountain Flatbread Co. (green business of the year).

The BC Wedding Awards voted the Vancouver Aquarium as the Best Wedding Reception Venue 2010.
