Christine Day, Lululemon Athletica’s CEO, was named Canada’s Marketer of the Year by the Canadian Marketing Association (CMA).
CMA president and CEO John Gustavson said, “Christine Day has transformed the Vancouver-based outfitter into one of the most sought after, respected and recognized Canadian brands that now frame the entrances to stores around the world.”
Since assuming Lululemon’s CEO role in June 2008, Day has been the driving force behind the company’s successful expansion outside Canada.
Lululemon has more than 165 stores throughout Canada, the U.S. and Australia and four showrooms in Hong Kong and New Zealand; plans to have approximately 300 retail outlets in the U.S. over the coming years.
In 2010, Lululemon revenue increased 57% to $711.7 million from $452.9 million in 2009.
Gross profit was also up 77% in 2010 from the year previous.
