Horizon Air has reduced fares on its Kelowna and Victoria routes to Seattle.

Fares for flights between Victoria and Seattle will range from $55 to $111, and flights between Kelowna and Seattle will range from $88 to $144.

The reduced fares will be for tickets booked online through Horizon Air's website. Tickets booked through the airline's reservation call centres or at the airport will cost $12 more per person.

Horizon cited the replacement of its aircraft fleet with larger, more fuel-efficient Bombardier Q400s, which carry double the capacity of its current fleet, as the main reason for the reduced fares.

By the end of July, Horizon is scheduled to have 13 Q400s. An additional 15 are to be delivered in 2008 and 2009. Horizon plans to replace its entire fleet of 37-seat Q200s with the 76-seat Q400s.

Horizon also lowered its fares between Seattle and other cities in Washington, Oregon, Montana and Idaho.
