Burnaby’s D-Wave Systems Inc. appears to have its ducks in a row. In September, it recruited a new CEO whose credentials include 11 years as chief technology officer for the Goldman Sachs Group. According to industry insiders, British Columbia’s revamped film and television productions tax incentive scheme is likely to lean heavily on the various digital media sectors to encourage producers to contract out digital effects, animation and video games in B.C. to accompany film and television productions already being shot in the province.

The new $400 million third berth project at Deltaport container terminal represents the first of “generational” investments in the Asia-Pacific gateway that will benefit the B.C. and Canadian economy for decades to come, according to Port Metro Vancouver president and CEO Robin Sylvester. Having the Deltaport expansion come online now, he said, shows the port is committed to increasing capacity to support growth in the national economy.
