Journalists replace politicians at Surrey

Regional business leaders have had an opportunity to hear some engaging keynote speakers at Surrey’s annual fall business summit.  Two years ago, it was former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani. Last year, it was former U.K. prime minister Tony Blair.

This year’s 2010 Surrey Regional Economic Summit - scheduled for October 14 – largely replaces the politicians with journalists.

Its intention is to probe the impact of economic progress in Asia.

Panelists include former Asia economic editor, now senior editor of the Economist, Pam Woodall, and Rico Hizon, anchor of BBC World News’ Singapore-based Asia Business Report.

Both are participating in the panel discussion: “The rise of Asia: going global with the world’s fastest growing economies.”

Another such discussion, titled “Asia and America: New roles for a new economy," features Forbes Magazine editor-in-chief Steve Forbes and Kishore Mahbubani, an author and professor at the National University of Singapore.
