Kwantlen Polytechnic University beat all other Canadian teams and had their best year ever at this year’s APEX Business IT Competition in Singapore.
Kwantlen business students Mike Harrison, Erin Spiller and Amanda Ovenden competed against 27 other teams from 15 countries and five continents April 25 to 29.
Hosted this year by Singapore Management University, APEX Global is an annual business competition that has run for the past three years.
It integrates different schools of thought of business and IT to produce unique case study-based challenges, which provide a forum of learning and professional development for the next generation of business-IT leaders.
The competition was judged by senior managers from companies like Deloitte, McKinsey and Co., Credit Suisse and Citibank.
“Finishing as the top team in Canada in both marketing and IT competitions demonstrates the diversity and flexibility of Kwantlen's business program,” said Chamkaur Cheema, an instructor at Kwantlen's school of business and one of the team’s coaches.
“Our students are able to compete effectively in all areas of business, a critical attribute in today’s job market.”
This is the second time in as many months that the same team of students finished ahead of rival teams from Canada.
At the Intercollegiate Marketing Competition on February 26 they finished third behind two American competitors.
