Vancouver's Catalyst Paper Corp. (TSX:CTL) quarterly net loss has increased as newsprint sales continue to plummet.
Net loss for the paper producer hit $37.4 million, or $0.17 per share, compared with a net loss of $25.6 million, or $.12 per share, for 2007's first quarter.
The higher loss follows a 45% decrease in newsprint sales and a drop in Catalyst revenue to $399.5 million from $478.1 million during the same period.
Catalyst finalized the acquisition of a recycled newsprint mill at Snowflake, Arizona, on April 10.
