The organizational shakeup that will re-integrate BC Transmission Corp. with BC Hydro has already begun at the energy utility.
In an internal memo to employees last Friday, BC Hydro’s chairman Dan Doyle said that a “streamlined executive team … will be focused on quickly and effectively integrating BC Transmission Corp. with BC Hydro.”
Bev Van Ruyven, who became acting president and CEO when Bob Elton stepped down last December, is to become executive vice-president, and deputy CEO when Dave Cobb assumes his role as president and CEO.
BC Hydro is creating an energy procurement and export market development division that will drive the utility’s economic development responsibilities under the new Clean Energy Act.
It’s also uniting its wires divisions under a transmission and distribution business unit.
BC Hydro is scouting leaders for both new divisions.
Susan Yurkovich, who has been BC Hydro’s senior vice-president of corporate affairs since 2006, will lead the Site C hydroelectric project.
A number of other senior employees have been given new titles or new roles at the company.
Doyle said the utility expects to complete the appointment of senior leaders by the end of May and intends to have the entire employee transition process complete by the beginning of July.
“Our goal throughout this process is to make every effort to retain the top talent from both BCTC and BC Hydro.”
