MDA and General Dynamics Canada join forces in billion-dollar navy bid

MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd. (TSX:MDA) has partnered with defence electronics giant General Dynamics Canada to bid on the Canadian navy's $1.1 billion Halifax Class modernization program.

MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd. (TSX:MDA) has partnered with defence electronics giant General Dynamics Canada to bid on the Canadian navy's $1.1 billion Halifax Class modernization program.

MDA, a Vancouver-based company that develops technology for government, military and space exploration, is the latest to join the team bidding on the contract. That team includes Thales, Raytheon, Integrated Defense Systems and General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems.

MDA said its long-standing relationship with the Canadian navy makes it uniquely qualified to help it develop software and systems technology.
