Richmond's MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd. (TSX:MDA) has won a new five-year multimillion-dollar contract from Petroleos Mexicanos to continuing monitoring oil seeps and oil spills in the Gulf of Mexico using data from MDA's Radarsat satellite data.
Petroleos has been using Radarsat data since 2001 and has created a maritime monitoring program in the Gulf of Mexico to improve its ability to prevent oil spills and respond to any that occur in the region.
Petroleos said it would use data from MDA's Radarsat-2, which would provide even better imaging, to improve the company's environmental stewardship and exploration projects.
MDA's share price range during the past week: between $40.75 and $44.85; 52-week high: $53.82; 52-week low: $39.09.
