Mine wall collapses at Imperial Metals' Huckleberry project

A wall at Imperial Metals Corp.'s (TSX:III) Huckleberry copper and molybdenum mine has collapsed.

A wall at Imperial Metals Corp.'s (TSX:III) Huckleberry copper and molybdenum mine has collapsed.

No damage to equipment or injuries to employees were reported because cracks in the wall were noticed last Monday and the section of the mine affected by the collapse was closed.

The company said the wall failure had no impact on other areas of the mine and that the section where the collapse occurred was nearing the end of its production life.

Imperial owns a 50% stake in the Huckleberry mine, which is roughly 120 kilometres southwest of Houston, B.C. Last year it employed 230 people and produced roughly 70.8 million pounds of copper and 306,250 pounds of molybdenum.

Imperial's share price range during the past week: between $14.46 and $14.60; 52-week high: $14.80; 52-week low: $7.50.
