The co-founders of Vancouver-based Hunter Dickinson Inc. (HDI) have been inducted into the Canadian Mining Hall of Fame.

Robert Hunter and Robert Dickinson were recognized for their lifetime achievements in mining and mineral exploration January 12.

It was not the first time they garnered industry acclaim for their work. In addition to several individual honours, they shared 1990’s Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada’s (PDAC) developer of the year award.

HDI was founded more than 25 years ago. It has mineral projects around the world, including the Xietongmen Copper-Gold project in China and the New Prosperity gold-copper project in B.C.

Over the years, Hunter and Dickinson have supported the Britannia Mine Museum, the old Britannia Beach copper mine, which is now an historic landmark and tourist attraction.

The Canadian Mining Hall of Fame, which was established in 1988, recognizes individuals who have contributed to Canada’s mining industry. It is sponsored in part by the Mining Association of Canada and the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum.
