Much media attention has highlighted the opposition and controversy surrounding the Hornby Street bike lane but some details have remained under the radar.
For example:
Paul Archer, who lives in the 1300 block of Hornby Street, told Business in Vancouver on October 9 that he already finds it difficult to get a parking spot and that he was concerned that parking in his block would be eliminated on one side.
Not so, said Harley Machielse, who is in charge of the project with the City of Vancouver.
He pointed BIV to a map showing that the stretch of Hornby Street between Pacific Boulevard and Drake Street will keep parking on both sides and only have one lane of vehicle traffic. Machielse also pointed BIV to a timeline for construction of the bike lane.
