Building bodies equals improved profitability when it comes to the investment strategy of NBA star Steve Nash.
One Body Nutrition nutritional products will be available at his 13 Steve Nash Fitness World locations and three Steve Nash Sports Clubs. Nash is an investor in the line of health products.
He also has invested in Montreal-based Liquid Nutrition, which is a health drink and nutritional product franchisor with locations in New York, Los Angeles, Toronto and Montreal.
“Steve has a continually growing portfolio. We’re now involved in eight companies,” said Jeff Mallett, who manages Nash’s investments.
Mallett, who grew Yahoo Inc. from a 12-employee start-up to search engine behemoth before leaving in 2002, is a mentor to Nash.
The two are co-owners of the Vancouver Whitecaps’ future Major League Soccer franchise. They also teamed up to invest in North America’s Women’s Professional Soccer League.
Otherwise, Mallet has stayed out of Nash’s investments so he can advise in a more impartial way, he said.
Mallett added that Nash’s three key areas of interest are:
“Everything he invests in has to touch one of those three buckets.”
