While the vast majority of Canadian workers are doing their holiday shopping on their own time, nearly a third of Canadians are doing some of their online shopping at work, according to an Angus Reid public opinion survey conducted for Accountemps.
When asked whether they do some of their online shopping at work during the holiday season, 29% of respondents said they do, while 71% said they don't.
Those who do browse for gifts at work said they spend on average 3.1 hours a week doing so.
Kathryn Bolt, Accountemp's Canadian president warned, "While many employees are given some leeway over the holidays, it's important for workers to familiarize themselves with their company's policies, which often prohibit visiting non-work-related websites."
