The Ministry of Economic Development is setting up an online database to help local businesses cash in on the roughly $4 billion of Olympic-related procurement bids leading up to 2010.

The 2010 Business Network will allow companies to profile themselves to 2010 buyers, including Olympic sponsors, national Olympic and Paralympic teams, international media organizations and other Olympic-related organizations. The profiles will be available for all other businesses to view and search under specific categories.

The government's 2010 Commerce Centre will use the network to help B.C. firms create relevant contacts, identify partnership opportunities and arrange meetings that may lead to successful contract bids for the Winter Games and beyond.

The government expects the network to benefit mostly small-to-medium sized businesses in the provinces by helping them gain more exposure and provide matchmaking opportunities. To register for the 2010 Business Network, visit: www.2010CommerceCentre.com.
