A professor at the University College of the Fraser Valley has been chosen as a new research chair to support trade between B.C. and India.
DJ Sandhu, a UCFV business professor, will become the B.C. regional innovation chair on Canada-India business and economic development, and manage a total endowment of $2.5 million. Roughly $1.25 million of the endowment was funded by the Ministry of Advanced Education and the remainder from contributions from local community supporters.
Sandhu's work is aimed at helping businesses in the Fraser Valley and the Lower Mainland take advantage of opportunities offered by the large Indian community in B.C. and the growing Indian market.
