Burnaby's WebTech Wireless Inc. (TSX:WEW) has reported that a patent infringement lawsuit against the company has been filed in U.S. District Court in the eastern Texas.
The suit by HTI IP LLC and San Diego-based fleet management system competitor NetworkFleet Inc. relates to an interface WebTech has developed. Other defendants in the suit include San Diego-based DriveOk and Camarillo, California-based Xirgo Technologies.
Said Anwar Sukkarie, WebTech's president and CEO: "It's important to note that this lawsuit affects an insignificant portion of our current subscriber base."
The company, which makes GPS-based vehicle tracking and fleet management systems, said it's reviewing the lawsuit and intends to vigorously defend itself against the claims.
WebTech's share price range during the past week: between $1.18 and $1.25; 52-week high: $3.07; 52-week low: $0.70.
