Megan Grittani-Livingston has joined Special Olympics BC as manager, communications. She was previously a reporter for The Question newspaper. Mike McKenna has been appointed executive director of the BC Construction Safety Alliance. He was previously a construction industry liaison for WorkSafeBC and director of Orion Health.
Carole Taylor has been named chancellor of Simon Fraser University. She was previously a B.C. minister of finance and chair of the boards of CBC/Radio Canada, Canada Ports Corp. and the Economic Advisory Council.
Jeffrey Olin and Albert Soberano have resigned from the board of LGC Skyrota Wind Energy Corp.
Jim Paterson has been named CEO of Kivalliq Energy Corp. He is currently a director of Corsa Capital Ltd., Kaminak Gold Corp. and Niblack Development Corp. Paterson was previously Corsa Capital’s founder, president and CEO. Jeff Ward has been named president of Kivalliq Energy; he was previously the company’s vice-president of exploration.
Richard Wyman has been appointed to the board of Tower Energy Ltd. He is currently an officer and director of Northern Cross (Yukon) Ltd. Wyman was previously vice-president and a senior oil and gas analyst with Canaccord Genuity and director of Smart Pipeline Services Ltd. Charles Ross has resigned from Tower Energy’s board.
Doug Eveneshen has been appointed vice-president, operations, for Community Savings Credit Union. He previously held senior leadership roles with several financial institutions.
Greg D’Avignon has joined the Business Council of BC as president and CEO, replacing Virginia Greene, who has been diagnosed with ovarian cancer. D’Avignon is currently western region president of Canada’s National Brewers and past chair of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. He was previously executive director of the BC Salmon Farmers Association.
Joyce Groote has been appointed a chair of TEC Canada. She is currently CEO and president of Holeys Canada Inc.
Gary Pooni, president of Brook + Associates, and Lisa Spitale, director of development services for the City of New Westminster, have been elected to the board of the Royal Columbian Hospital Foundation.
Lindsey Turner has been appointed director of sales and marketing at the Nita Lake Lodge. She was previously conference services manager for Tourism Whistler.
Michael Cheung has been appointed vice-president of business development and investor relations at Zongshen PEM Power Systems Inc. He was previously CFO of PenderFund Capital Management Inc., an investment banker at RBC Capital Markets and an audit manager at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP.
Sandra Singh has been named head librarian for the Vancouver Public Library, succeeding Paul Whitney, who is retiring. Singh is currently director of the Irving K. Barber Learning Centre at the University of British Columbia.
Amanda Pitre-Hayes has been named director of sustainability for the City of Vancouver. She was previously director of climate change consulting with the Pembina Institute.
Premier Gordon Campbell has realigned the provincial cabinet. Taylor was previously president, CEO and director of Naikun Wind Energy Group, president and CEO of ICBC and president and CEO of the BC Auto Dealers Association.
Dan Schulz has joined eCo Realty Inc. as vice-president of the commercial division. He was previously a senior associate, investment division, at Colliers International.
James Hutton has been appointed chair of the board of Novus Gold Corp. He is currently president and CEO of Hutton Capital Corp. and Hutton Capital Management and non-executive chair of Terra Ventures Inc. Prior to that, Hutton was founder, president and CEO of the Canada Dominion Resources Group of Companies.
Julie Kim has been named manager of investor relations and corporate communications for Western Copper Corp. She previously managed corporate communications for Capstone Mining Corp. and managed communications and public relations for eBay Inc.
Graham Mascall has been appointed a non-executive director of Western Coal Corp. He is currently CEO of Ncondezi Coal Co. Ltd. and a director of Gemfields Resources plc and London Mining plc. Mascall was previously a director of Caledon Resources plc and CEO of Lubel Coal (UK) Ltd.
Michael Halvorson and Ron Netolitzky have been appointed to the board of Papuan Precious Metals Corp. Netolitzky was previously chair of Brett Resources Inc.
David Douglas has been appointed CFO of Savant Explorations Ltd., replacing Robert McKnight, who will continue as a director of the company. Douglas is currently CFO of Blackstone Ventures Inc. He was previously either CFO or corporate secretary for Western Keltic Mines Inc., Stornoway Diamond Corp., Sherwood Copper Corp. and Eastfield Resources Ltd.
Peggy Wu has been appointed CFO of Indico Resources Ltd., replacing Michael Kinley, who has resigned. Wu was previously senior accountant at Smythe Ratcliffe LLP and staff accountant at STS Partners LLP.
Thomas Henricksen has been appointed a director of SUB Capital Inc. He is currently chief geologist for AQM Copper. Henrickson was previously chief geologist of Norsemont Mining Inc.
Mark Billings has been appointed to the board of Fancamp Exploration Ltd. He is president and CEO of Orex Exploration Inc. and CFO of Argex Mining. Billings was previously vice-president of corporate finance with Desjardins Securities Inc.
Philip Fitzpatrick has been appointed senior adviser to AgriMarine Holdings Inc. He was previously commercial director and senior adviser to the Marine Stewardship Council and group managing director, Americas, for Marine Harvest.
Parveen Karsan and Alexander Coombes have joined Lawson Lundell LLP as associates in the taxation group. Karsan was called to the Alberta bar in 2006 and the B.C. bar in 2007. Coombes completed his articles with the firm before being called to the B.C. bar in 2010.
Lisa Peters has been appointed director of the BC Law Institute. She is currently head of the research and opinions department at Lawson Lundell.
Melanie Samuels has been named senior associate, employment and labour law and immigration law, at Singleton Urquhart. Prior to joining the firm she was with Lawson Lundell and Faskens Martineau.
