Nancy Diep has joined KPMG’s tax group as partner. She was previously a partner with Osler, Hoskin & Harcount LLP.

Jerome Leclere has joined TBWAVancouver’s creative team. He was previously with Switch Interactive, Noise Digital and EURO RSCG.

Richard Dunn, Geoff Freer and Stephanie Killam have been appointed to the board of Geoscience BC. Dunn is vice-president, regulatory and government relations, Canadian division, Encana; Freer is principal, Firth Group; and Killam is mayor of the District of Mackenzie.

Dennis Chan has been elected chair of the S.U.C.C.E.S.S. board. Previously the board’s vice-chair, he is currently directorof business management, pharmaceutical services division, BC Ministry of Health Services. Prior to that Chan was director of regional contract management, Vancouver Coastal Health. Tung Chan, CEO of S.U.C.C.E.S.S., is retiring.

Jim Bizzocchi has been appointed interim director of the Centre for Digital Media at the Great Northern Way Campus’ masters of digital media program, replacing program founder Gerri Sinclair, who has left to pursue opportunities in the private sector as a consultant. Bizzocchi was previously with Simon Fraser University’s School of Interactive Arts and Technology.

Harry Gray has been appointed associate vice-president of human resource services at Kwantlen Polytechnic University. He was previously director of consulting services at the Health Employers Association of BC.

Ian Hume has been appointed to the board of Carbon Friendly Solutions Inc. (CFS). He is currently an independent consultant and economist for the World Bank. John Reynolds has resigned from the CFS board but will remain as chair of the company’s advisory board.

Tanya DeAngelis has been appointed a director of Synex International Inc. She is currently a lawyer with Macdonald Sager Manis LLP.

Wak Kani has been appointed to the board of East West Petroleum Corp. He was previouslyan exploration manager and chief geologist for Burren Oil.

Dwight Jefferson and Tyler Steele have joined Macquarie Private Wealth as associate portfolio manager and investment adviser, respectively. Both were previously with CIBC Wood Gundy. Prior to CIBC, Steele worked with Morgan Stanley and Bear Stearns.

Michael Hind has been appointed executive director of the Tri-Cities Chamber of Commerce. He was previously executive director of Basketball BC.

Byron McDonald and Dave Abercrombie have joined Pacific Business Brokers Ltd. McDonald was previously VP of sales, sales and marketing and business development at Kost Klip Mfg.

David Alves has been appointed president and CEO of Sterling Shoes Inc. He previously held positions with Zellers, Hudson’s Bay Co., Winners and TJX Europe.

John Babcook has been appinted head of a new biologics division at the Centre for Drug Research and Development. He was previously principal scientist at Amgen, associate director of research at Abgenix Biopharma Inc.’s B.C. site and co-founder of ImmGenics Pharmaceuticals, Inc.

David Gunawan has been made executive chef of West Restaurant, part of the Top Table Group. He first joined West as chef de partie and was later promoted to executive sous chef.

Stephen Race has been appointed principal of The Headhunters Inc.’s human capital division. He was previously manager of consulting services at Talent Technology.

Mohammad Manki and Nicholas Hooge have rejoined Farris, Vaughan, Wills & Murphy LLP as associates. Manki, who joins the firm’s corporate commercial, securities and corporate finance, and banking practice groups, was previously with Lex Mundi affiliate firm Afridi & Angell. Hooge, who join’s the firm’s litigation practice group, was previously an associate at Farris, Vaughan, Wills & Murphy.

Anicka Quin has been appointed editor-in-chief of Western Living magazine, where she was previously managing editor. She is also a board member for the Canadian Society of Magazine Editors and sits on the advisory committees for the Langara College and CapilanoUniversity publishing programs.

Sindi Ahluwalia Hawkins, former B.C. MLA, has passed away. Her public career with the province included tenures as the minister of health planning, minister of state for intergovernmental affairs and deputy speaker of the legislature.

Adrienne Ross has been appointed vice-president operations at Millrock Resources Inc. She was previously vice-president exploration and, later, president, of Cedar Mountain Exploration, and, prior to that, senior geologist for Committee Bay Resources, part of the Discovery Group.

Krishna Persad has been appointed vice-president of the Caribbean region for Georox Resources Inc. He is currently geological adviser for Trinidad Exploration and Development Ltd., where he previously acted as country manager and team leader exploration. Persad is also the founder of the Trinidad Geological Research Centre.

Douglas Underhill has been appointed chief geologist for Tigris Uranium Corp. He was previously a certified professional geologist and consultant for Energy Metals Corp., Denison Corp., OECD/Nuclear Energy Agency, Encana Corp., Uranium One Inc., IAEA and Crosshair Exploration and Mining Corp. Prior to that, Underhill was a uranium resource and production specialist with IAEA’s nuclear fuel cycle and waste technology division and senior consultant for NAC International.

Michael Gordon and Dan Westbrook have been appointed non-executive, independent members of the board of Ivanhoe Mines Ltd. Gordon was previously executive vice-president of Anglo American Plc.Westbrook was previously president of British Petroleum China Gas, Power & Upstream.

David Russell has been appointed to the board of Fire River Gold Corp. He is the president and CEO and director of Apollo Gold Corp., which recently merged with Linear Gold Corp. to form Brigus Gold Corp. Prior to that, Russell founded Nevoro Gold Corp. and was vice-president and COO for Getchell Gold Corp.

Greg Pendura has been appointed CEO of Solid Resources Ltd., replacing Joerg Schuetz, who has resigned. Pendura was previously a management consultant and board member with Anglo Swiss Resources. Prior to that, he was with Resin Systems Inc., first as founder and, later, as president, CEO and chair.

Andrew Morden has been appointed CFO of WebTech Wireless Inc. He was previously CFO at Intrinsyc Software and Digital Dispatch Systems; CFO and, later, acting CEO at the Internet Marketing Center; vice-president of financial planning and systems and a director of ERP systems at Intrawest Corp.; and ERP client and project manager at SAP Canada.

Philippe Favreau, COO of Carmanah Technologies Corp., has resigned.
