Kevin Meagher and Jeff Van Ess have been appointed vice-president and COO; and vice-president, U.S. measurement services, respectively, for the Corix Group of Companies. Meagher’s previous roles at Corix include: vice-president, operations; vice-president; and general manger, Corix Measurement U.S. Van Ess previously helped found FieldTech and managed Johnson Controls Inc.’s municipal utility solution business unit.
Ben Zion Livneh has been appointed to the board of Carbon Friendly Solutions Inc. He is a founding member and director of MicroCoal Inc. Livneh previously founded and was president and CEO of BeST Pty. Ltd. and was managing director of Knowledge Based Engineering Pty. Ltd.
McCarthy Tétrault has elected Vancouver lawyer Cameron Belsher, as one of four new members from across Canada to serve on its board.
Euan Sinclair has joined Lawson Lundell LLP as director of knowledge management. He was previously a professional support lawyer with Burness LLP, after being called to the bar in Scotland in 1995. Lawson Lundell’s Amy Carruthers and Jagdeep Shergill have been named partners.
Christina Kim has joined Clark Wilson LLP as an associate in the firm’s construction and procurement, and commercial real estate groups. She was called to the Ontario Bar in 2009 and the B.C. bar in 2011 and previously articled at Davis LLP.
Timothy Louman-Gardiner has joined Farris, Vaughan, Wills & Murphy LLP as an associate in the firm’s litigation and alternative dispute resolution groups, practising in the area of corporate and commercial litigation. He was called to the British Columbia Bar in 2008, and was previously an elected member of the University of British Columbia (UBC) board of governors and an appointed member of the UBC Alumni Association board of directors.
Roger Giovanetto and Dario Sodero have been appointed to the board of RockBridge Resource Inc. Giovanetto was previously president of R&H Engineering, Ltd. Sodero is president and director of Cygam Energy Inc., co-founder of its predecessor company, Sheer Energy Inc. and president of Planaval Resources Ltd. He previously founded Coachlight Resources Ltd. and was vice-president and president of Atlas Yellowknife Resources.
Thomas Conway has been appointed president and CEO of I-minerals Inc. He replaces Roger Kauffman who has resigned these positions but will continue as board member and non-executive chair. Conway was previously vice- president, risk management, of Newmont Mining Corp.; vice-president/general manager and manager, environmental affairs of Carlin Operations; and vice-president/general manager of Minera Yanacocha.
Brad Blacketor, Marc Leduc and Elsiario Antunez de Mayolo have been appointed CFO, president and vice-president of operations, respectively, of Bear Creek Mining. Blacketor was previously vice-president and CFO of Metallica Resources Inc. and CFO of MinCorp Ltd. He has held senior management positions with Pincock, Allen & Holt, Inc. and Touche, Ross & Co. Besides their new positions, Leduc and Antunez de Mayolo will continue in their former roles with Bear Creek: COO and general manager of the Peruvian branch, respectively.
John Carson, Andrea Zaradic and Anders Kruus have been appointed executive vice-president, vice-president operations and development, and interim vice-president corporate relations, respectively, of Magma Energy Corp. Carson was previously senior vice-president of GE Energy’s renewable energy division and senior vice-president finance of TerraGen Power. Zaradic is currently Magma’s country manager in Iceland and chair of HS Orka.
Wolf Seidler has been appointed an additional director of Baja Mining Corp. He is currently a director of Inmet Mining Corporation and Bridgeport Ventures Inc. and previously held executive positions with Inmet, Normandy LaSource SAS and J.S. Redpath Ltd. Seidler previously held senior operating positions with Teck Corp., Quebec Cartier Mining Co. and Gold Fields Mining Corp.
Ralph Shearing has joined Foundation Resources Inc. as a director, replacing Marion Koziol, who resigned. Shearing founded and was president and CEO of Soho Resources Corp.
Clyde Peppin as joined Silvermex Resources Inc. to head its Mexican operations as general manager for La Guitarra Operations. Peppin was previously manager of mining and estimating with Stantec Mining, and a chief engineer and project manager for Hecla Mining.
Xenon Pharmaceuticals president and CEO Simon Pimstone is one of six new members appointed to the federal Science, Technology and Innovation Council. The other new members are: Seneca College president David Agnew, deputy minister of international trade Louis Levesque, University of Alberta president and vice-chancellor Indira Samarasekera, Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics executive director Neil Turok and federal deputy health minister Glenda Yeates.
