Lavinia Lau has been appointed vice-president, Canada, for Cathay Pacific Airways. Prior to joining the airline she was a group management trainee for John Swire & Sons (Hong Kong) Ltd.

Genene Heidt, Kelly Stadnyk, Alvin Wong and Katheleen Wolfe have joined Iredale Group Architecture as, senior architectural technologist, intern architect, intermediate technologist and director of marketing, respectively. Previously, Heidt was an architectural technologist with Abbarch Architecture Inc., Stadnyk was an intern architect with Bingham Hill Architects, Wong was a draftsman with Fougere Architecture and Wolfe was marketing manager at Boughton Law Corp.

Ibro Hadzismajlovic and Mirko Silic have been named manager of transmission and distribution, and manager of transmission and distributionengineering, respectively, at Stantec. Hadzismajlovic was previously a technical consultant in the electrical utility industry.

Kim Dotto, Oliver Grüter-Andrew, Michael Miller and Peter Smailes have been added to the BCNET board. Dotto is dean of research at the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT); Grüter-Andrew is CIO of the University of British Columbia (UBC); Miller is acting associate vice-president of research at the University of Victoria; and Smailes is treasurer at UBC. The BCNET board’s new Canadian technology leaders are Steve Kinsey, vice-president of Canada West operations, Cisco Canada, and Lucy Cross, director, product development, Shaw Business Solutions.

Dick ter Avest has been appointed COO of Sonoro Energy Ltd. He was previously CEO of Advanced Well Technologies. Robin Hamersma has been apponted Sonoro’s chief business development officer. He was previously commercial manager at NAM. Quinton Rafuse has been appointed Sonoro’s chief of exploration. He was previously CEO of Avere Energy Ltd. (now East West Petroleum), vice-president of geoscience for Ember Resources Inc. and a geologist for Thunder Energy Inc. and EnCana Corp.

Colleen Clark has been elected president of the BC Chamber Executives board. She is currently with the Sechelt Chamber of Commerce.

Mike Dakin has been made president of the Insurance Institute of BC governing council. He is currently president of the Insurance Corp. of British Columbia (ICBC). Other members of the council include: Wes Chowen, first vice-president, academic division (Pat Anderson Insurance Group); Pierre Chavigny, second vice-president, professional division (Claimspro); Jan Brownridge, secretary/treasurer (Munich Reinsurance Co. of Canada); Shaun Sinclair, past president (BCIT); Lucie Ferguson, Vancouver Island chapter president (Coast Capital Insurance Services Ltd.); Mark Francis, marketing and communications (ICBC); Jasmine Sodhi, future directions (ICBC); Helena Dolan, seminars (Intact Insurance Co.); Jennifer Perry, education and career connections (HUB International Insurance Brokers); Lynne Vetter, events (Wawanesa Insurance); and Connie Desharnais, Okanagan (Gore Mutual Insurance Co.).

Chris Patterson has been appointed to the board of Finning International Inc. He is currently a director of Modine Manufacturing Co. Patterson was previously president and CEO of Daimler Trucks North America LLC.

Thomas Walsh, Coleman Rotstein and Jack Sobel have been appointed to iCo Therapeutics Inc.’s scientific advisory board committee. Walsh is director of the transplantation-oncology infectious diseases program, Weill Cornell Medical College, Cornell University. Rotstein is a professor of medicine in the division of infectious diseases, University of Toronto, and attending physician at University Health Network. Sobel is associate chair for research, department of internal medicine, Wayne State University.

Robert Di Silvio has resigned as president and CEO of Pyng Medical Corp. but will continue as a board member. Mark Hodge has been appointed interim president and CEO. Prior to joining Pyng, Hodge was a director in marketing operations and engineering at Medtronic and Boston Scientific.

Brent Lavery has been appointed director of sales for Pan Pacific Vancouver. He was previously director of sales and marketing at the Brookstreet Hotel and Resort, Deerhurst Resort and Red Deer Lodge.

Carly Schaeffers-Fairhurst has joined the Headhunters Inc. as a senior consultant. She was previously a consultant at David Aplin Recruiting.

Kathy Haymour has joined Mercer Bradley as senior staffing specialist. She was previously with Robert Half.

Mark Leung, Matthew Levine and Todd Keeler have joined Borden Ladner Gervais LLP as associates. All three previously completed their articling with the firm and were called to the B.C. bar in 2010.

Jill Pereira has joined Lang Michener LLP’s real estate and banking group as associate counsel. She was previously a partner at McCarthy Tetrault. Kathy Wang has joined Lang Michener’s tax group as an associate. She was previously a law clerk with the Federal Court and completed her articles with Borden Ladner Gervais. Navnit Duhra has joined Lang Michener’s real estate and banking group as an associate after completing her articles with the firm. Arman Ghanipour has joined Lang Michener’s business law group as an associate after completing her articles with the firm. Katie Turriff has joined Lang Michener’s litigation group as an associate after completing her articles with the firm.

Willa Duplantis has joined Lawson Lundell LLP’s research and opinions group as a research assistant. She previously articled with Alexander Holburn Beaudin & Lang LLP and was called to the B.C. bar in 2010.

Sheri Ann Mark, Roy Couper Dickey, Steven Myles Merrick, James Parker MacCarthy and Supreme Court master Marguerite Elizabeth Shaw have been appointed to the British Columbia Provincial Court as judges in the following districts, respectively: Kamloops, South Fraser, Coast, North Vancouver Island and Okanagan.

Grand Chief Stewart Phillip has been re-elected president of the Union of BC Indian Chiefs.

Greg Pendura has been appointed CEO of Solid Resources Ltd., replacing Joerg Schuetz, who has resigned. Pendura was previously a management consultant and board member of Anglo Swiss Resources and, prior to that, founder, president, CEO and board chair of Resin Systems Inc.

William Sheriff has been appointed non-executive chair of the board of Tigris Uranium Corp. and has resigned as CEO of the company. He is currently chair and CEO of Golden Predator Corp., chair of Copper Ridge Explorations Inc. and Silver Predator Corp., and a director of Western Lithium Corp. Sheriff was previously co-founder, director and chair of Energy Metals Corp., co-founder of Quincy Energy Corp., founder and past-president of Platoro West Inc. and a board member of Evolving Gold Corp., Quincy Gold Corp., Midway Gold Corp., Eurasian Minerals Inc. and Uranium One Inc.

Julian Treger has resigned from the board of Western Coal Corp.

John Hagan, Stewart Hardacre and Charles Tattersall Smith have been elected to the board of Sustainable Forestry Initiative Inc. Hagan is currently president, Manomet Center for Conservation Sciences; Hardacre is president and COO, Habitat for Humanity Canada; and Smith is a professor in the faculty of forestry, University of Toronto.

Robert Bryce has been appointed a director of BonTerra Resources Inc. He is founder and a director of Abitex Resources. Bruce was previously vice-president of mining for Aur Resources.

Susan McLeod has been appointed vice-president, legal, for Entrée Gold Inc. Hamish Malkin has resigned as the company’s CFO for personal reasons.

Robert Power (chair), Christopher Serin (interim CEO and CFO), David Bell, John Cook and Michael Mason have resigned as members of the board of EurOmax Resources Ltd. Mark Gustafson, Randal Matkaluk, John Nugent and Donald Siemens have been appointed in their place.

James Mayor has been appointed senior geological consultant and special adviser to the president at Salazar Resources Ltd. He was previously exploration manager with Newmont Mining.

Charles Pitcher has been appointed CEO of United Mining Group, Inc. He was previously president and CEO of Western Canadian Coal. Graham Clarke Jr. has been appointed an independent director with United. He was previously senior vice-president and general counsel with Newmont Mining. Greg Stewart, United’s chair and president, has also assumed the position of COO. Eric Panke has resigned as a non-independent director of United but will continue as CFO and corporate secretary.

John Brock has been appointed to the board of West Kirkland Mining Inc. He was previously a governor/board member of the Vancouver Stock Exchange and CDNX Exchange. Brock is currently CEO of Pacific Ridge Exploration and a director of US Silver Corp.

Reuven Getter and Shane Meyers have been appointed directors of Running Fox Resource Corp. Getter owns RG Diamonds Co. Meyers was previously portfolio adviser at Bolder Investment Partners.

Paulin Laberge has joined the board of iCompass Technologies. He is entrepreneur-in-residence at BCIC, a director and past chair of ACETECH and a member of the Science World equity committee.

Raymond Slee has been appointed president, CEO and a director of Intelimax Media Inc. He was previously the company’s CTO. Prior to joining Intelimax, Slee was a director and CTO for SwampFox Software Ltd. Charles Green has resigned as CEO, president and director of Intelimax. Carl Schmidt has also resigned as a director of the board.
