Dean Ponto, Chris Callender and Kamilla Fahradova have joined Hangar 18 Creative Group Inc. as associate creative director, senior web developer and designer, respectively. Ponto was previously co-creative director at TBWA and BBDO. Callender previously owned and ran Soniccode.

Colin King has been appointed urban designer at Zeidler Partnership Architects. He was previously senior urban designer-architect at O’Mahony Pike Architects.

Pascal Spothelfer will leave his role as president of the BC Technology Industry Association to return to the corporate sector.

Rachel Thexton has joined Dunn Public Relations as associate partner. She was previously B.C. manager for Media Profile.

Alissa Sadler has joined Signals Design Group as social media manager. She was previously communications co-ordinator at the BC Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS.

Brian Bonney has been hired as director of sales at Uniserve Communications Corp. He was previously director of provincial affairs, B.C., with the Canadian Federation of Independent Business.

Ian Scott, Lee Drever, and Christina Florencio have joined Octaform Systems in the following roles, respectively: business development, marketing specialist and marketing specialist. Scott was previously managing director for Ready Set Show Inc. Drever was previously marketing co-ordinator at Body Worlds. Florencio was previously marketing programs specialist at 7-Eleven Canada.

Stephen Heatley has been appointed interim department head of the University of British Columbia’s department of theatre and film. He was previously artistic director of Edmonton’s Theatre Network, associate artistic director of the Citadel Theatre, and resident director of the Free Will Players.

Janine Guenther has been appointed vice-president and managing director for B.C. for BMO Harris Private Banking. She replaces Diana Reid, who has moved into the role of vice-president, national managing director and head of private wealth group.

Ron Knight, Kulwinder Sanghera and Tracy Redies are Surrey Memorial Hospital Foundation’s board chair, vice-chair, and director, respectively. Knight is an owner/operator of McDonald’s Restaurants of Canada. Sanghera is president of South Asian Broadcasting Corp. Redies is president and CEO of Coast Capital Savings Credit Union.

Treena Innes has been appointed as the new director of development for Big Sisters of BC Lower Mainland. She was previously client relationship director for Tyze Personal Networks and development director for MusicFest Vancouver and Adoptive Families Association of B.C.

Craig Neeser has been elected chair of Port Metro Vancouver’s board. He was previously vice-president, B.C., and president, Canada, of Weyerhaeuser; chair of the Coast Forest Lumber Association; and was on the boards of: the Council of Forest Industries of British Columbia, the University of Alberta, Global Forest Partners and the Vancouver Aquarium.

Maria Skyllas-Kazacos joined the advisory board of Apella Resources Inc. She is currently emeritus professor at University of New South Wales (UNSW)’s school of chemical sciences and engineering and was previously a director at UNSW’s centre for electrochemical and minerals processing.

Kenneth Faulkner has been made president and CEO of Tiex Inc., where he was previously vice-president, corporate development. Ernest Bergvinson has resigned as president, CEO and director and will become a consultant and member of the company’s advisory committee. Scott Jobin-Bevans and Wade Black have also joined Tiex’s board. Jobin-Bevans is president and director of Treasury Metals Inc.; director and founding partner of Caracle Creek International Consulting Inc.; and president of the Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada. Black is president of Blackberry Fund Management, Inc. and previously helped found Scarsdale Equities LLC.

John Black has been appointed an independent director of Candente Copper Corp. Black was previously a Western Mining Corp.’s technical exploration manager and principal geologist for Rio Tinto.

Bill Reed and Alastair Summers have joined Meadow Bay Capital Corp. as director of exploration and senior mining engineer, respectively. Reed was previously vice-president of exploration and co-founder of Paramount Gold and Silver Corp., chief geologist (Mexico) for Hecla Mining Co. (HMC) and regional geologist for Echo Bay. Summers was previously vice-president and general manager of HMC’s operations in Mexico and Venezuela.

Michael Basha has been appointed to the board of Rhyolite Resources Ltd. He is the president and CEO of Aurion Resources Ltd. and was previously vice-president of exploration of Cornerstone Capital Resources Corp.

Chris Sattler has been appointed CEO of Uranium One Inc. where he was previously the company’s executive vice-president, corporate development and investor relations.

Gilbert Dickson has been appointed senior consultant for sustainable development for Gold Canyon Resources Inc. He previously worked in aboriginal, community and logistics relations with Brett Resources Inc.

Kenneth McNaughton, Joseph Ovsenek, and Kenneth Konkin have been appointed vice-president and chief exploration officer; vice-president and chief development officer; and project manager, Snowfield and Brucejack projects, respectively, at Pretium Resources Inc. McNaughton, Ovsenek and Konkin were previously, respectively, senior vice-president, exploration; senior vice-president, corporate development; and manager of exploration programs at Snowfield and Brucejack projects for Silver Standard Resources Inc.

Jeffrey Nichols has been appointed a director of Mediterranean Resources Ltd. He is the managing director of American Precious Metals Advisors. Nichols was previously a gold analyst, vice-president and director of commodities research at J. Aron and Goldman Sachs; president of the International Precious Metals Institute; and director of Dickenson Mines and Silkamen Gold Resources.

Peter Oates has been appointed manager of investor relations for Brixton Metals Corp. He previously worked in investor relations and corporate communications for RedZone Resources Ltd. and Entree Gold Inc.

Andrew Male has been appointed a director of Maxim Resources Inc. He is the managing director and partner of Westridge Management International Ltd.

Michael Gunning, Jim Malone, Jay Fredericks, Alistair McCready and Ben Ainsworth have been appointed: president and CEO; chair of the board; vice-president, project development; vice-president, exploration; and special adviser to the board, special projects and new business opportunities, respectively, of Hathor Exploration Ltd. Malone was previously vice-president, nuclear fuels, Exelon Generation Co., LLC. McCready was previously Hathor’s senior project geologist and exploration manager. Ainsworth previously held various positions with Placer Development.

Pablo Noriega has been appointed to the board of Rare Method Interactive Corp. Noriega is a consultant and was previously a lawyer with Basham Ringe and Correa.

Devinder Randhawa has been appointed chair and a director of Mercer Gold Corp. He is chair and CEO of Fission Energy Corp. Randhawa previously founded and was CEO of Pacific Asia China Energy Inc. and Strathmore Minerals Corp.

AJ Ali has been appointed project finance adviser of Platinum Group Metals Ltd. He is currently CEO of Avanti Mining Inc.

Mark Anthony Richards has joined Viewpoint CRM Inc. as vice-president of business development for Canada. He was previously national account manager for Western Canada at Stanley Security Solutions.

Song Qiao has joined the Xianburg Data Systems Canada Corp. board. He is currently managing director of Sibol China Ltd Beijing and Hong Kong Access Technology Solutions USA and was previously vice-general manager for China Railway Express Logistics Ltd.

Connie Chen has been appointed vice-president, corporate development and communications, at Functional Technologies Corp. She was previously biotechnology and health sciences analyst at Loewen, Ondaatje and McCutcheon Ltd.
