Capital markets juggernaut Peter Brown has been named chairman of the Fraser Institute’s board of trustees, the think-tank announced today.
The institute lauded the appointment, and said Brown’s entrepreneurial “prowess” and commitment to “free-market” thinking have made him an unwavering advocate of its focus on the impact government intervention has on the marketplace.
Brown, founder and chairman of Canaccord Financial Inc., is also the B.C. representative on the Transition Committee for a National Securities Act, and recently became a member of the Canadian Mining Hall of Fame for years of helping to finance mineral projects.
Brown is no stranger to boards, and has served as past chairman of the University of British Columbia’s board, the Vancouver Stock Exchange, B.C. Place Corp. and vice-chairman of Expo ’86 Corp.
