Premier Gordon Campbell has announced plans to create an economic advisory council to help explore ways to keep B.C.'s economy strong as the world stumbles into a recession.

The new council will consist of top Canadian CEOs, academics and economists.

Campbell said competitiveness and productivity are two key areas the government will focus on.

The government also announced it will be holding economic summit meetings in Prince George and Vancouver to focus on economic opportunities across B.C.
