Victoria has raised an additional $37 million in its August sale of oil and gas land rights, bringing its year to date total to $321.7 million.
The August 12 sale offered 47 parcels covering 22,757 hectares. It sold 41 parcels covering 21,080 hectares with an average price of $1.759 per hectare.
Key parcels included five drilling licenses totaling $15.8 million with bids ranging from $3,100 to $6,000 per hectare. These parcels are located between 20 kilometres and 50 kilometres east of Chetwynd.
Drilling licenses give exclusive rights to drill for petroleum and natural gas in a particular area. They are acquired by the successful bidder at the Crown sale.
The province's next sale is slated for September 16 and will offer 34 parcels covering 15,885.
